Estádio do Maracanã, officially known as the Estadio Jornalista Mario Filho, in located in Rio de Janeiro and will host seven games during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. The stadium has hosted up to 200,000 fans for previous events but the capacity will be 76,935 for the World Cup.
The seven games that will take places at the arena is more than any other venue — among those games will be the 2014 World Cup Final on July 13th. Renovations to the stadium, which is built on the site of the facility erected for the 1950 FIFA World Cup, will include replacement of all seating, a new roof, and a rainwater collection system. Maracanã is the biggest stadium in Brazil.
